Spending works today, inside the pool. Pay a private payment request, or anyone who can receive a Starknet private transfer, from your shielded notes. It does not reach merchants that only accept card payments. Unshield to public USDC when a destination needs a public balance.

First privacy use in this app deploys the account if it is still counterfactual, then shields. That is the same pair of txs as Ready's Activate and Enable private tokens. After that: two wallet prompts (public approve, then deposit). The deposit is public. Notes take about 10 blocks to mature.
